Yesterday was an amazing day. One of the best days of my life. My best friends became parents! It was almost like a dream. None of us could believe it was really happening. After years of infertility and the pain of several losses, the day they had longed for was finally here. It was a beautiful day – the perfect day to bring a new little life into the world. The sun was shining bright, the trees were full of Spring blossoms, and a feeling of immense joy filled our hearts the entire day. I am honored to have been given the task of documenting this beautiful baby’s birth.
I would like to share with you, the arrival of Mr. Grayden “Grady” James
He was born April 21, 2012 at 9:38PM. He weighed 7 pounds, 13 ounces and was 19-3/4 inches long…
Welcome to this world, sweet little man. We all love you so very much.
A few interesting facts: My amazing friend only pushed for 14 minutes! The cord was wrapped around Grady’s neck, not once, but two times. Dr. Joki, being the skilled professional that he is (with almost 6,000 deliveries under his belt) identified the problem early and quickly delivered Grady’s head so he could clamp and cut the cord. It worked beautifully! Later, the nurses were concerned about Grady’s irregular heartbeat and took him to the nursery for blood pressure monitoring. He passed with flying colors. Jody reported the following morning that his heart was beating perfectly.
Here is sweet baby Garrett. He was a super star for his newborn photos. He was so patient with us and Mom & Dad were like old pros. I never would have guessed they were first-time parents. They were so easy going and so much fun! Garrett brought along his grandma and grandpa too – they came all they way from Key West, Florida! I nicknamed Grandpa McKee, “The Baby Whisperer”. If he lived closer I’d hire him – ha!
Garrett’s Birth Story: Mama was induced 4 weeks early due to preeclampsia. The induction was long – it took 2 days to get her into active labor. She opted for the epidural, but it stopped working after 12 hours. Baby Garrett wasn’t budging so off to the operating room they went… Mama and Garrett handled the C-section wonderfully and both are doing terrific 10 days later!
